Final Thoughts

As we inch closer to #FastLane, the card is starting to come together.

All titles on the blue brand will appear to be on the line where we will see Charlotte defend against Ruby Riott, Bobby Rood defend his US title against Jinder Mahal, the tag champs the Uso’s defend against the new Day, and of course the fatal 5-way where we will see AJ Styles defend the WWE title against Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

As far as this week’s episode of smackdown goes, I would have to rate it a 6.5. It was great seeing AJ Styles this week, but it dragged on a bit, with the opening promo even though I knew the point he was getting across. Less is more buddy. Plus, it’s a two-hour show!

The creative team must’ve read my write up from last week, as Ruby Riot ended up pinning Becky Lynch and not Charlotte Flair but as it stands Ruby and Charlotte will do battle nonetheless. With Becky Lynch thrust in the middle now, it’s obvious where this is going. A beat down by the Riott Squad on next week’s episode when the Riott Squad’s ring leader faces off against Becky Lynch which will prompt Charlotte to come to the rescue and going into the PPV, the question will be asked if she can set her emotions aside to focus on retaining the title.

The US title picture confused me, so why was Randy involved in all of that and he’s not in the match?

I must say that with the tag title picture and The New Day becoming number 1 contenders that surprised me. I’ve been saying for weeks that the Bludgeon bros were going to face the USO’s. The E might be saving that match for the kick off for Mania, eh?

Finally, the WWE title picture, as we are 3-weeks away from the PPV, look for each competitor from the match to be standing tall during various episodes of Smackdown Live leading up to the PPV, but in the end, Styles will win. Speaking of Styles, where was his opponent. I thought it was foolish to not have any interaction between the two. I get it that we are promoting another PPV, but they could’ve at least have his opponent shown watching the match. I mean what if AJ doesn’t win?
